Good news!

Mankind was created with the capacity for fellowship with the living God. In fact mankind is fulfilled in knowing and worshipping God. This is that ‘missing piece’ that is inside everyone of us . . . a void that can only be filled by knowing God personally.

God also wants our fellowship, but will not force it upon us. Mankind has the capacity to choose. And we have chosen not to live according to God’s way. This is sin—a condition that keeps us separated from God.

Nothing that man can do himself—good deeds, being baptized, joining a church, moral living, can bring us into a right relationship with God.

So what is God’s answer for this helpless condition?

Because of God’s continual love for us he sent his Son Jesus Christ to pay the penalty of sin by dying for us. God then raised him from that death opening the way to God. This nullifies the need for obedience to the Law (the Ten Commandments) to enable us to be acceptable in God’s sight and so makes Jesus the only way to God the Father.

So you might ask, if Christ died for all men why hasn’t everyone got this wonderful relationship with God the Father? Because everyone must choose to make a personal response by faith to Jesus’ death and resurrection.

You can receive Jesus Christ. You can invite him into your life.

Once Christ comes into your life he wants to be your Lord—master of your life, and in so, give meaning and real purpose to your life. He can only do this as you allow him to.

If you want to receive Christ into your life you can pray this prayer. Prayer is simply talking to God. Remember that becoming a Christian is not about just saying these words but receiving a person—Jesus Christ.

DearLord
I know I have done wrong.
I am willing to turn from living my own way.
I believe Jesus Christ died for me.
Please come into my life and forgive me of my sins—give me new life.
I receive you into my life as my savior and Lord as best I know right now.

Did you ask Christ to forgive you of your sins and for him to come into your life? . . . Did you mean it?

By making this decision you are now a child of God.

What now?

Tell someone about what you have done. This is very important. It will cause what you have done to become a reality—It will ‘crystallise’ your decision.

Spend time every day praying—just talking to God naturally. Thank and praise him for who he is and what he has done. Talk about things that are happening in your life. Pray for other people. Ask God to help you become what he wants you to be. He will help you by the power of his Holy Spirit.

Spend some time every day reading the Bible. The Bible is not a rule book, it is ‘food’ for our spirits. It will also help you get to know God and what he might want you to do. God wants you to develop a relationship with him, this can be helped by listening to him through the Bible. If you find the Bible hard to understand at first, find another Christian to help you.

Get involved in a church with life. God wants us all to grow and we can’t do this by ourselves. Churches are places where we can get equipped and encouraged to be what God wants us to be. We can also help others on their spiritual journey. It should be an exciting place to be.
