Three Big Questions Who am I? Why am I here? Where am I going?
You are one of two types of people on the earth today. Those who belong to God. And those who do not.
Your identity can not be found in things, people, or organizations. Your true identity can only be found in God through Jesus Christ.
Once you give your life over to Jesus and enter into the relationship with God that He intended for you, your sense of identity will become clear. Your identity actually comes from not who you are, but whose you are!
It's easy to believe that you're on earth to please yourself, or perhaps please others. The truth is that it's not about you!
Mankind was created to give pleasure to God and enjoy him. This is achieved by one, being what God wants us to be, and two, doing what God wants us to do.
You were made by, and belong to God, so when looking for the reason you are on this planet you must look beyond what is here and now. These things will pass away. But you were made to fulfil God's plan and purpose for your life. You were created for God's pleasure not your own.
The first thing to do to find purpose in your life is to trust God with your life . . . Decide to come close to God. God would like to enjoy your company and for you to find pleasure in Him.
Once you've come to God (see Gospel) and established the relationship he intended to have with you his love will begin to flow from your life. This love is to be shared with others. This is the second stage of having purpose.
The following aspect of purpose for your life is that you are meant to grow and change. God has planned for us to reflect his nature. You need to allow God to do this through cooperating with the work of His Spirit in your life, what the Bible has to say to you, and the circumstances life presents you.
The next element to finding purpose in your life has to do with serving. You have been given gifts, dreams and desires, abilities, a particular personality and have had certain experiences in life that all add up to giving yourself unique attributes that you can use to help others become what God wants for their lives.
The final element in gaining purpose for your life is that you were made for a mission. God's mission for the world is for mankind to know Him. God wants to say something to the world, and he wants to say it through you. Seek God and learn from him your personal plan and strategy for your part in his mission.
